Epson’s waste ink pads are designed to collect any ink that’s not being used by your inkjet printer. When these pads become full, your printer will no longer work properly, generating a warning message and requiring manual resetting. Fortunately, resetting your Epson waste ink pad counter is simple, and can easily be done from your computer using the proprietary software that comes with your printer.

Begin by downloading and installing the Epson software that comes with your printer. You’ll need to connect your printer to your computer so make sure the power is on and you’re connected via USB or Wi-Fi. Once the software is open, look for the Maintenance tab and select the “Set Waste Ink Pad Counter” option. In the next window, select the reset option to continue.

The program may then ask you to enter a password for authorization. If this is the case, the password should be included in the information that came with your software. If you don’t have the information, simply contact Epson Support for help.

After entering your password, the software will prompt you to confirm the reset. Click ‘OK’ and wait for the software to reset the waste ink pad counter back to zero. After a few moments, the reset process should be complete and your printer should be ready for use.

While it may seem daunting to manually reset your printer’s waste ink pads, it’s an important part of keeping your printer working properly. By resetting the counter regularly, you can make sure that your printer continues to operate at its optimum performance.
